FAQ

Satellite evidence questions.

Is Sentinel-2 enough resolution?

For airports, mines, precincts, corridors, ports and industrial estates: yes — 10 metre true-colour reads buildings, roads, cleared land, water and vehicles-in-groups. It is not enough for individual truck identification, sub-metre construction verification or property-line disputes.

How far back can you go?

Sentinel-2 back to 2015, Landsat back to the 1980s (colour degraded on older missions), MODIS/VIIRS back to 2000/2011. We pick the shortest baseline that supports the decision so the visuals are as sharp as possible.

What about cloud cover?

Every scene is checked for cloud cover before use; the plate footer records the exact percentage. Where seasonal cloud prevents a clean pair, we widen the date window, layer multiple scenes or recommend a paid tasked capture.

Can I use the plates in advertising?

Yes — Copernicus and Landsat imagery is open under permissive terms with attribution. The plate already carries the required source ledger. Public advertising use should still be flagged during intake so we can confirm the specific mission's attribution requirements.

What does 'honest scope' mean on the plate?

Every satellite plate carries a 'What this supports / What it does not support' block. It is how we keep open-data evidence defensible: the plate tells the audience where the imagery can be relied on and where a paid capture, engineering inspection or official finding is still required.

Do you retain the imagery?

The composed plates and any client deliverables are retained; the raw COGs are streamed from public archives and not resold. Scene IDs are recorded so a future re-render or extension is a scoped follow-up.
